Oba Femi Breaks WWE Record

Oba Femi Breaks WWE Record

Oba Femi has been one of the biggest breakout stars in WWE’s developmental brand over the last couple of years, dominating NXT as a powerhouse North American Champion. He is now officially a history-maker in WWE, becoming the longest reigning NXT North American Champion of all time over this weekend.

On Saturday, he surpassed 270 days as the titleholder, officially beating Wes Lee’s 269-day reign with the gold. Femi will be looking to continue his momentum on the October 8 episode of NXT in Chesterfield, Missouri when he defends the belt against Tony D’Angelo in a rematch from their previous title bout last month.

During his record-breaking run as champion, Femi has defeated Dragon Lee, Lexis King, Brooks Jensen, Dijak, Josh Briggs, Ivar, Wes Lee, Joe Coffey, Duke Hudson, Otis, and Tony D’Angelo, outlasting all comers in a variety of singles matches and triple threats.

Former titleholders include the likes of Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano, Swerve Strickland, Ricochet, Dominik Mysterio, Carmelo Hayes, and several others, but none of those former champions held the belt for as long as the current champion. It was reported earlier this year that Femi was seen as a future world champion in WWE.
