Major Changes Coming To NXT According To Shawn Michaels

Shawn Michaels confirmed that major changes are on their way in WWE NXT.

In late 2023, it was reported that major changes were about to take place when it comes to WWE programming. Not only would SmackDown be moving back to the USA Network, NXT will be moving to the CW. Raw, meanwhile, is set to move to Netflix in January, marking the first time in history the red brand will not air on cable television.

SmackDown returned to the USA Network on September 13th, and NXT will begin airing on the CW Network on October 1st. The brand is going on the road for its first episodes on CW, with the October 1st episode taking place in Chicago, IL. CM Punk will play a major role on the program, serving as special guest referee for the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams.

On September 27th, Wrestlevotes Radio reported that WWE would be making changes to NXT’s presentation as it exits the USA Network and debuts on CW. Speaking in an interview with Bill Jones of the Chicago Tribune, NXT head Shawn Michaels confirmed that change was in store for WWE’s third brand.

“Certainly we want to make a big splash on the CW Network. We’ll have some big changes, but I think more of that will be from a look and physical standpoint. We will still be what NXT is, which is bringing some of the most talented, young, diverse athletes in all of the nation, and developing them into the WWE superstars of tomorrow. … The hunger, the passion that’s always been the core value of NXT is always going to be there. But certainly we’ll try to put on some pretty cool bells and whistles for the CW launch on”.
